Polyarticular JIA - Drawing Around Feet

We encourage you to watch this short video which highlights how the nurse can engage the child through play to enable joint assessment.

This little girl has polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and had a late presentation to paediatric rheumatology. She has widespread joint swelling (knees, ankles, elbows and wrists), muscle wasting (thighs, calves) and joint restriction (knees, elbows). She looks thin and pale. She is playful however and does not complain of pain.
